HEED OFFICE POSTER PROJECT

NOVEMBER 26 th - DECEMBER 26 th 2018

Location: Selected Irish Poster Advertising poster sites throughout Dublin city centre.

HEED OFFICE presented its inaugural project, the HEED OFFICE POSTER PROJECT, curated by Diana Bamimeke from November 26th - December 26th 2018. This project concerned itself specifically with discrimination and inequality in Dublin City.

HEED OFFICE has evolved from a work of art by Garrett Phelan created through conversations with individuals and groups from all backgrounds aged 18–25 inhabiting the Greater Dublin Area. Over a one year period, contributors - Kayleigh McKevitt (24), Caoimhe Flanagan (20) and Diana Bamimeke (20) - have conceived and designed the posters which were displayed for a one month period on IPA poster sites throughout Dublin City.

Their posters concerned themselves with Direct Provision, The Homeless Emergency and Disability. All three women have become active contributors in the development and future of HEED OFFICE and Diana Bamimeke has curated the project.

Through future nationwide and international programmes, they and other contributors will help to realise the HEED OFFICE objectives. HEED OFFICE through alternative advocacy, aims to bypass the political advocacy route of standard protest and will engage with the public directly through positive, caring, creative actions which will be funded independently or through arts funding agencies.

This emphasis on the involvement of the contributors, creates a model of self-determined, democratized creativity: the subjects now become the makers.
